Hi, I’m Melissa Mason — founder of 34 North Vacations.
This business is deeply personal to me. It is not something I built to hand off to a team and step away from. I’m involved in the day-to-day operations, the guest experience, the homeowner relationships, the design decisions, the problem solving, and the small details that most larger companies overlook. My life genuinely revolves around this business, these homes, and the people who trust me with them.
I started 34 North Vacations because I saw too many vacation rentals treated like numbers on a spreadsheet. Homes were underperforming, guests felt like transactions, and homeowners were left frustrated by poor communication and lack of care. I knew there was a better way to do it.
At 34 North, we take a boutique approach focused on quality over quantity. I intentionally keep our portfolio selective so every property receives real attention and every homeowner has direct communication with someone who truly knows their home. I believe successful vacation rentals are built through thoughtful design, strong marketing, proactive maintenance, dynamic pricing, and an exceptional guest experience from start to finish.
I’m passionate about helping homeowners create properties that stand out — not just visually, but financially. A well-prepared, thoughtfully stocked, professionally managed home leads to better guests, stronger reviews, repeat bookings, and higher long-term revenue. That connection between hospitality and performance is what drives everything we do.
This is more than property management for me. It’s something I care about personally. I celebrate the wins with my homeowners, worry about the details, obsess over guest experiences, and constantly look for ways to improve every home in our program.
