Swansboro is a small, historic waterfront town on the White Oak River, at the western edge of the Crystal Coast. Its downtown is walkable, with local shops, restaurants on the water and boats tied up along the river.
Cedar Point sits just across the river, with quiet waterfront neighborhoods and easy access to the Croatan National Forest. From here, the bridge to Emerald Isle and the beach is only a short drive away.

Take the passenger ferry (seasonal) or paddle out to Bear Island, an undeveloped barrier island with quiet beaches. Check the park’s ferry schedule before you go.
Stroll the historic waterfront for local shops, galleries and riverside restaurants.
Calm water, marsh views and wildlife. Kayak and paddleboard rentals are available in town.
A short trail in the Croatan National Forest with boardwalks over the marsh. A nice easy walk.
Head over the bridge for a beach day, and catch the sunset at The Point on the west end of the island.

Cedar Point puts you minutes from the Intracoastal Waterway and Bogue Inlet, with inshore and nearshore fishing close by. Launch nearby, fish all day, and tie up at your own dock when you get back.
