Beaufort's Waterfront Mardi Gras Festival is like a three-day party with awesome feasts, parades, costumes, masks, and just all-around good times.

You've got to check out the Masquerade Ball, Parade and Street Carnival, and the Sinner’s Remorse Brunch – they're the real highlights.

And let me tell you, after hitting up Beaufort’s Mardi Gras Celebration, you'll totally get why Travel + Leisure magazine called Beaufort one of “America’s Quirkiest Towns.”

Now, about the Mardi Gras Parade:

Picture this – the streets along Front Street and Middle Lane are buzzing with excitement as everyone's waiting for the parade to kick off at 3 p.m. sharp. They even crown a Mardi Gras King and Queen – how cool is that?

Beaufort’s Mardi Gras Celebration is just a crazy fun display of the town's quirkiness. You'll see these groups called "krewes" in wild costumes tossing jewelry and charms during the parade. Oh, and keep an eye out for the Sweet Potato Queens – a bunch of ladies aged 40-70 rocking elaborate costumes and busting out some choreographed moves.

By the way, they switched up the parade route. It starts at Truist Bank, heads west on Front Street to Turner Street, takes a right onto Middle Lane, and wraps up on Craven Street. Don't miss it!

Street Carnival – Let the Good Times Roll!

Get ready for a New Orleans-inspired feast with awesome food, drinks, and live tunes!

Picture this – an afternoon filled with Cajun delights and live jams. Local restaurants are setting up shop along Middle Lane, Front Street, and John Newton Park, offering up classic Cajun and Creole eats. Gumbo, smoked sausages, barbecue, shrimp, po’boys, muffuletta, jambalaya, and those irresistible king cakes – it's a Mardi Gras food paradise! Wash it down with special Louisiana beers, Hurricanes, or a Bourbon Street Punch from the New Orleans playbook. And guess what? There's a Beer Garden with food truck goodness at the Craven Street parking lot.

Bring the little ones too – we've got family fun covered! Balloon art, face painting, and mask-making under the tent in the Kid’s Area at John Newton Park on Front Street.

And keep an eye out for roaming street performers – stilt walkers, jugglers, balloon twisters, and face painters adding to the carnival vibe on Front Street and Middle Lane.

Calling all art lovers – check out the outdoor arts tents showcasing some seriously fantastic fine art.

Don't forget the Gumbo Competition and Tasting – your chance to savor classic New Orleanian-style gumbo. Amateurs and pros are battling it out for gumbo glory under the tent in the West Parking Lot on Front Street. It's a showdown of flavors, and you won't want to miss it! Tickets are $30 per person, including a choice of beer or wine. The competition starts at noon and goes on until 10 pm. Grab your tickets for this tasty event!
